The Society maintains a watching brief on planning applications within the Spalding Conservation area and around the town in general. We challenge poor quality and harmful proposals and will lodge an objection where we feel that an application does not meet national and local planning policies.
We are not against new development, but we believe that new developments should be of high quality, well planned and well designed. We are not nimbys.
Our planning team is small and we will always welcome anyone who has a good eye for detail or has a professional background in architecture or town planning who wishes to be part of our team. Contact us to find out more if you are interested.
Spalding Conservation Area
The Spalding Conservation Area was designated in 1970, and subsequently extended. It consists of four areas of distinct character: the riverside north and south of High Bridge, the historic commercial centre with its mediaeval street pattern, Church Street, and Pinchbeck Road. Few mediaeval buildings remain, but there is a wide range of Georgian and Victorian buildings.
Planning Notes
Over the years we have commented on many planning applications and consultations. In some cases we have managed to secure changes to the applications, whilst in others we have not been successful.
This page includes a selection of our more significant responses.
