We are responding to the national campaign by Civic Voice to “fix one thing” for Civic Day (Saturday 20th June)
Here in Spalding, we will be joining the campaign by arranging a community tidy up of the planted bedding area in front of the BT offices in Winsover Road. If enough volunteers come forward, we will also look to tidy up some of the bedding areas on the riverbank. We will be supported in these efforts by Greenwell Horticultural Therapy, the Gardening for Wellbeing Charity in South Holland.
The bedding area in front of the BT offices on Winsover Road was planted up with fuchsias and other planting by volunteers a few years ago which would look so much better if the weeds and wild buddleia were removed. The brickwork around the bedding area does need rebuilding and we have asked BT whether they are willing to do their bit to tidy up their frontage and we are waiting to hear from them, but regardless of whether they respond or not, we see no reason why they could object to this area being tidied up.
We are therefore calling on volunteers to join Society members in tidying up the bedding area in front of the BT Telephone Exchange Offices on Winsover Road, Spalding. The plan is to meet up at 10am on Saturday 20th June and take things from there. If there are enough volunteers, we will look to undertake weeding of the bedding areas on the riverbank.
No specific gardening knowledge is required, but this activity is ideally suited for those with gardens who have the equipment to hand.
If you can help please contact us below or simply turn up on the day.
